Complainte de la Butte-Skecth

...French for "Lament of the Mound," in case you're thinking what I was when I first saw the title of the song.

FINALLY found the first Moulin Rouge soundtrack in stores, and this (aside from "El Tango de Roxanne, of course) is my favorite song. And while listening to this song, this is what popped into my head. It came out just how I wanted, which is very rare indeed. Although, I did picture the woman he's singing about to have wavy hair, but I wasn't sure how to portray that while still making it look like its moving.

Um... I wanted to somehow work le Moulin into the picture, but the only place I could think to put it was in front of her, and I thought that would ruin the picture.

I love the way this scanned. It's just a sketch in my book, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it. Crosshatch? Pencil sketch? Traditional color? I scanned it so I could print out some copies to toy around with and it looked so cool I decided to leave it this way. If I do wind up doing anything with it, I'll scrap this, but until then...

Those buildings don't have the right feel, I don't think, but I love how they're curved like that.
